The Nike Wing is a collaboration between Nike, VSP Innovation Lab and Zeiss to re-imagine the design and manufacturing process of eyewear and create a revolutionary frame for elite athletes. The design consists of an unibody lens that is joined by a silicone rubber strap, eliminating pressure from the bridge of the nose and behind the ears. Find out more on Wired.
I worked on this project back in 2014 when I was an intern at the VSP Innovation Lab. My roles included concept exploration and rapid prototyping of the nosepad section.
The final Nike Wing design was published in 2016, the nosepad went through quite a few changes, but still maintained some of the original design intent that I worked on.
